Sick Days

Between my surgeries and Chicken Fried’s recent stomach flu incident, and now sore throat, I was reminded of “sick days.”   Not the kind you have from work.  The kind you had when you were a kid.  When you got to stay in bed, and Mom would come in and rub your head or back or leg.   You would snuggle under your favorite blanket on the couch.  Eat scrambled eggs and toast.  And even though you didn’t feel good, everything seemed right with the world.

In our family, we have the “sick blanket.”  I’ve had it since I was a kid.  It’s one of those fuzzy picture blankets that everyone in the 80’s got.  Mine has two horses on it.   It’s just so warm, and snuggly, and wraps around you perfectly.  The kids know if they don’t feel good, they ask for the ‘horsey blanket.’  And yes, after each surgery, you could find me sleeping in the ‘comfy chair’ under the ‘horsey blanket!’  And no, there aren’t any black mail pictures!

What little things do you do for your kiddos when they are sick?   Help them remember on this Sick Days MEMORY PAGE.
