IMG_5143Look who came to live with us today.   Her name is Miss Dixie.  We got her through the English Springer Spaniel Rescue Association.  It was one of those things that just seemed meant to be.  We’d been talking for a while about getting a springer.  A lady that BigD works with has rescued two, and forwarded the e-mail about Dixie.  She just happened to be in Omaha.  We filled out the application, got approved, met her, and brought her home all within a week.

She’s making herself right at home.  I have a feeling I will be sewing another “couch quilt” because she has claimed mine.  Scout isn’t overly sure about her … and Stoney is no where to be found, but she’ll show herself when she gets lonely.  Now, if we can just train the kids to put their toys away, especially Punk’s “baby,” we should be good!!

Cute! The puppy stage is driving me nuts around here… Maybe Krystal, you, and I can start a support group for living with puppies!

Okay, well you didn’t really say she was a puppy…how old is she?

She’s 13 months …. not a “puppy,” but still a puppy. I say we just give them to Krystal an hour a day and let her run their legs off! 🙂

Odd timing…this week a springer spaniel was featured on the Pet of the Week for the Dodge Co. Humane society. Thought of you guys but you were already looking at the puppy. This one was 2 and looks about like Lulu but black and white.

Awww … I just can’t understand why anyone would ever get rid of a springer. They are such great dogs. Apparently the 2nd “family” that had Dixie would pick her up by her ears and treated her terribly. She was infested with fleas, ticks and four different kinds of worms. She’s nice and healthy now … and juding by the body/tail wag, I think she’s pretty happy to be here.

it’s usually easier to train the dog than it is to train the kids.

Oh, so true. The dog usually understands “no” the first time — the kids average about 3 times!
